ProviderTrust verifies your organization’s credentials at the primary source. In order to do so, we follow a multi-step process.
Step 1: Credential Analysis
■ You supply us with all of your medical credential data, including all of the unique credential types and issuers. For example, you might have two distinct credentials because of the differing issuers, such as “Registered Nurse (type) - Texas Board of Nursing (issuer)” and “Registered Nurse (type) - Ohio Board of Nursing (issuer)”.
■ Our team reviews the data to ensure we have everything we need to verify at the primary source that you identified. In addition, we will distinguish which credentials are able to be primary source verified (i.e. licenses) and which are not (i.e. certifications and documents). If necessary, we may request a sample credential.
Step 2: Credential Mapping
■ Following the credential analysis, we will align with your organization regarding the values that will be used on the data file. You will need to indicate the values of a given credential type and issuer (e.g. “Registered Nurse - Texas Board of Nursing” might look like “RN” and “TX”, respectively).
■ Any credential types or issuers that are not mapped will need to be addressed before successful monitoring will occur.
■ In the event that ProviderTrust identifies a unique credential value is tied to multiple credentials, ProviderTrust will request that you update your HRIS with a new credential type and/or issuer to maintain accurate mappings (e.g. “Social Worker” cannot be mapped to a Master Social Worker and a Clinical Social Worker).
Step 3: Credential Supply
■ You will need to supply credentials to ProviderTrust via file.
■ The following data points are required for every license that you wish to have primary
source verified:
- License Type
- License Issuer
- License Number
Step 4: Credential Verification
■ Once your credentials are successfully supplied to ProviderTrust we will begin the verification process based on all the data you provided. Verification frequency is outlined in service agreement.
■ Alerts will begin to populate on your ProviderTrust account. The alert types will arrive as Red or Yellow with a “Severity” status that offers more specific information.
Step 5: Credential Governance
■ Your team will need to create a workflow for resolving the credential alerts in the application.
■ In the case of a “Not Found” where a credential type or issuer is incorrect, you will need to determine who will make the necessary changes within your organization.
■ Your team will need to prioritize reviewing the file upload summaries in order to address new credential mappings and data that errored out of the upload.
