As part of the next Passport release, you will see new features and functions designed to streamline the verification and reporting of Compact (multi-state) nurse licenses.
What is a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC)?
The National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) defines the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) - which is commonly referred to as a “compact” or “multi-state” license - as a way to “allow a nurse to have one multi-state license with the ability to practice in the home state and other compact states.” There are currently 41 jurisdictions that are currently a part of the NLC. Additional jurisdictions have pending legislation to become part of the NLC. Nurses who reside in an NLC state and meet the ULR requirements are considered to have a compact license.
In Passport today, a manual designation is provided to indicate a license as a compact/multi-state license. In its current state, it relies on the client user to log in to Passport and check a box indicating that it is a compact license. We understand that the current functionality relies on manual work to designate a license as a compact license, and is subject to human error.
We are excited to expand our product offering to include the verification of the compact license status.
What should you expect?

Verified compact license status as part of License Verification result will be displayed within the verification record within the Monitor tab, the following statuses will be provided:

Yes - This result is a confirmation that the license is compact

No - This result is a confirmation that the license is not compact

N/A - This result means the license does not fall within compact rules (i.e. The license type is NOT an RN or LPN--only these types are able to be compact)

Blank - No license information provided OR license was not found during the verification process

Requirement rules related to compact license status work as they do today, but leverage the verified compact license status. We will remove the manual checkbox when adding or editing a license (see image below).
