Secure SFTP Mode
We provide SFTP servers to facilitate secure communications with the ProviderTrust system.
When a client application connects to the ProviderTrust server via SFTP, the application lands in the account’s home directory. The application can freely move between subordinate folders, but cannot access any directories ‘outside’ of that home directory; this guarantees security. The account specified in SFTP login can only see directories tied to that account.
The user name and password control which home directory is accessed. The first step is to secure a user account, as outlined in Step 1 below.
1. Username/Password - To gain access to your secure SFTP site, you will need to request a username and password from your ProviderTrust rep to use for the service. To place this request, please call 615-938-7878 or email us at email@example.com. Since the server permits only SFTP access, and no ‘normal’ system level login, password changes will require that you make such a request to ProviderTrust at the number above.
2. The URLs for the Servers –
The URL to access the SFTP server is:
3. Data Mode Folder - Under each home directory (/), there is an integration directory with 6 sub-directories. The names of the sub-directories are predefined and are corresponding to the combination of the import modes (Add, Add/Update, Replace) and import data file types (Provider, Credential, or User). The program will ONLY download the files under these 6 sub-directories (you may see more folder options, but these are not directly integrated).
*If you are using VendorProof, you can also use the vendor_update, vendor_replace and vendor_add folders.

After the data is processed, the file will be automatically deleted from the site (server) for an added layer of security. A status email is sent to the designated organizational user (s) and will inform the user if the data was processed successfully. If the import was not successful, you will need to securely login to ProviderTrust to view the summary of errors. Once corrected, please upload the file again and it will be processed during the next scheduled job.
